What happens when researchers, founders, and investors come together to talk about turning AI research into real-world ventures?

On March 5, LAB42, the University of Amsterdam's AI research hub at Science Park, hosted AI-Preneurship Day. The event was a joint effort by three partners who share a mission: ICAI – Innovation Center for Artificial Intelligence, ELLIS Unit Amsterdam, and TTT-AI. Together, we brought students, PhD researchers, and startup experts into one room for a day full of insights, honest stories, and new connections.

What it takes to make the leap

Speakers shared practical advice on starting small, tackling early-stage challenges, finding the right funding, and building AI products that make a real difference. Investors shared their insights into what they look for in strong AI startups, and founders from LAB42-based companies, Copyright Delta and kaiko.ai, provided a glimpse into what it truly takes to build a successful spin-off.

The day wrapped up with one-on-one pitching and networking sessions, where participants got direct, valuable feedback on their ideas. Attendees described it as a "nice blend of entertainment and information", and for many, it was their first time experiencing the LAB42 community.
