Workshop: Understanding Open-Source Software & Valorisation
Many AI researchers share code, models and datasets openly, but how you share them determines what happens next. In this half-day IXA workshop, Tom Stirrop of the TTT-AI business development team explains how open-source software and open-access data can help your research create scientific, societal and economic impact.
Before deciding how to share or commercialise your research results, it helps to understand what open source really means. This workshop covers the core principles of open-source software and open-access data, walks you through the most common licensing models, and shows how those choices affect collaboration, follow-up funding and innovation. You will also learn how sustainable business models can be built around open-source technology, so openness and valorisation go hand in hand.
The workshop is led by Tom Stirrop, Business Developer at Amsterdam UMC and part of the TTT-AI business development team. Have a question about open source or licensing in the meantime? You are welcome to contact Tom directly at t.e.stirrop@amsterdamumc.nl.
